Development opportunities
"What counts with us is not just what you are. But also what you can be."
― Dennis, Lean Office Facilitator and Training Administrator
At Audi, everyone has the opportunity to develop and to drive their own change, even across departmental and divisional boundaries. Sometimes the road is rough and it takes a long time because the tasks or even the general parameters change – I experienced that, too. After my apprenticeship as a tool mechanic, I gained a lot of experience in various areas, including in the press shop, in the body shop and now in quality assurance. Within these stations, I always had the opportunity to prove myself, to take on new tasks and to develop personally and professionally. An important step for me: training to become a Bachelor Professional of Metal Production and having the full support of the management and colleagues.
"If we stop getting better, we stop being good."
―Buenyamin, IT Product Manager
I started out in the production department at Audi.I prepared the body for every vehicle you have seen at a world premiere. Then I saw a notice about the Digital Shift while I was in the canteen one day. And I thought to myself: I’ll try that now. I enjoy changes. People change during the course of their lives. Their interests change too. I see it as a great opportunity to work in a company where I have so many further development possibilities.
All of us here always have to be up to date. Technically and in thinking. With innovative collaboration tools, we work together faster, better and more flexibly, no matter where we're working from. Whether we're at home, in the car or in another city, we make sure we're all working closely networked. And share and network not only data and servers, but also our ideas, knowledge and team spirit.
The most important components for success?
The people in our teams. Team lead is not just a title for us, but a task. The task to create an environment in which everyone develops to the best of their abilities. Ideas for personal development, perspectives for the future and the individual support of talents.
A company is only as good as its employees. Constant further training is therefore extremely important to us.
At Audi we offer a wide range of further training opportunities.

Learning at Audi – fascinating facts and figures about the training and professional development opportunities at the brand with four rings.
Audi has a proud tradition of placing great importance on learning new things. Why? It takes highly trained and motivated employees to deliver “Vorsprung durch Technik” and make a real difference to the mobility of the future. In this phase of transformation especially, it is a matter of having targeted qualifications and the right professional development.
Learning and continuing professional development are deeply embedded at AUDI AG – and have been for decades. The Audi Akademie plays a major part in this, consolidating all the company’s training activities – from vocational training to professional development and competence development. In the past two years, AUDI AG has invested more than 250 million euros in training and professional development for its employees.
The average time spent in training in AUDI AG rose from 9.1 hours per employee in 2021 to 14.4 hours (2023). This increase was seen among production-based employees (from 6 hours to 12.3 hours) and non-production employees alike (from 11.8 hours to 16.5 hours).
To make learning opportunities as simple to access as possible, the company provides a large range of digital training formats. The launch of the Audi Learning Experience (Audi LXP) in 2023 established a central digital starting point for learning. The Audi LXP brings together more than 25,000 learning opportunities from internal and external providers. To cover specialist learning content, extra reskilling and upskilling measures are offered, which focus on certain strategic skill areas, such as digitalization or electrification. The Audi Akademie is on hand with training consultants whenever they are needed.
The formats available in the Audi LXP are wide-ranging, including for instance Live Online Training (LOT), e-learning or self-motivated learning on one of the various learning platforms, such as LinkedIn Learning or Speexx. Employees can set their own individual skills in order to filter for the opportunities relevant to them.
Audi places great importance on facilitating private further development, for instance through educational leave, through breaks in employment with guaranteed re-employment, or by issuing Audi employee grants. The company offers the latter for accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree courses in the fields of digitalization, technology and engineering as well as more general subjects, such as law or business administration.
In 2023, AUDI AG registered 57,445 activities completed in ‘transformation-relevant’ professional development programs (incl. the Training Center). This figure does not include web-based training courses (WBTs). An impressive 1,370 activities focusing on the key topic of digitalization were completed.
The dual study programs, the trainee program and apprenticeships at Audi are constantly being updated to reflect the future topics and the company’s strategic orientation. Even now, jobs in the field of digitalization already represent over 25 percent of the entire training offered.
As part of its social responsibility, AUDI AG is committed to enhancing the knowledge-based society. The company’s focus here is not only on employees, but also on customers, business partners and society as a whole – especially initiatives in the vicinity of Audi production sites. A good example of this can be seen in its endeavors in the region of San José Chiapa (Mexico). At present, fewer than 25 percent of students there leave education with a high school diploma. That’s why the two-year educational project “Enseña por México” was launched recently, which provides scholarships for a total of 200 high-school students. AUDI AG also works with a number of national and international universities (e.g. through endowed professorships) to help drive progress in the areas of research and teaching.
